Club Kid! Chicago International Film Festival Opening Night.

This evening I was lucky enough to attend the Chicago International Film Festival’s opening night screening of Club Kid!

The energy in that room was absolutely ELECTRIC!! I haven't seen an audience erupt with laughter like that in awhile. This movie is hilarious!! The style of humor portrayed in this film isn't seen often in movies and is so modern while being very in touch with queer nightlife culture.

In the Q&A he mentioned the using of nonactors, real clubbers and his own personal friends. You can really see that humanity come across the screen with the use of all of these real people just being authentic.The amount of queer representation in this film should not go unspoken.

While everyone is talking rightfully so about Reggie’s performance and how captivating it was. I don't think Eldar Isgandarov & Diego Calva are getting enough praise. Eldar might have had the funniest scenes in the movie and Diego for the grounding presence that he brings to the screen.

I think Jordan Firstman is in for a very long and prosperous career ahead of him. I really hope this gets into the academy awards as this really checked all the boxes for me.

This movie in gonna change so many people lives in the queer community now and when it comes to wide release and streaming. I can feel it. This is gonna be one we are talking about In queer circles for decades to come.

I'm just beaming about this one.

What a perfect way to start of 2 weeks of CIFF!
